TIL that misreading a load chart can cost you a whole afternoon
I was setting up for a 14-ton AC install on a rooftop downtown yesterday and thought I had plenty of capacity with my 30-ton crane at a 40-foot radius. Turns out I forgot to account for the 500-pound spreader bar and rigging, so my actual lift was over 90% of capacity and I had to reposition the whole truck. Has anyone else burned a bunch of time on a simple math mistake like that?

Ngl my buddy had this exact thing happen on a hotel job last month and spent three hours moving the crane around. He said he still double-checks the rigging weight every time now.

Bet your buddy also learned that spotter walking backwards is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
