Tried a new rigging method on a tricky lift in Spokane and it actually backfired.

Everyone swears by the double basket hitch for long pipe, but on a 60-footer last Tuesday it started to twist and bind halfway up. Has anyone else found a better setup for that specific scenario?

Can't believe a 60-footer started to twist on you like that.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I once tried a fancy basket hitch on a long beam and ended up with a slow-motion spin cycle. It looked like a metal ballet, not a lift. Had to lower it and just choke it the old way, which felt like admitting defeat to the crane gods. Sometimes the simple way is the only way that doesn't try to fight you.

We had a 55 foot I-beam last year that lifted perfect with a double basket. The rigger said it's all about getting the pick points just right.
