Tried to beat my setup record and made a total mess of the lift

I was setting up a Grove RT540E on a job site in Phoenix last Tuesday and thought I could shave 10 minutes off my usual time. Skipped the full level check on the outriggers, just eyeballed it since the ground looked flat. Got the load up about 30 feet and felt the whole rig start to tilt forward, had to set the steel beam down in a hurry like a dummy. Turned out there was a hidden dip in the asphalt that threw the whole balance off, I was maybe 2 inches out of level. Had to re-crib everything and add 4 more pads to get stable, ended up taking 20 minutes longer than normal. Learned my lesson about rushing setup, never again lol. Has anyone else gotten burned trying to speed through the outrigger checks?

Isn't 2 inches out of level no big deal with those grove outriggers though?

Oh man, I feel you on this one. It really depends on the specific model and how the load is spread out. A couple inches can be a lot more serious than some folks think when you're dealing with uneven ground.

I mean 2 inches is actually a lot with a load up that high.
