Working a 50 ton carry deck at the Port of Savannah last month changed my whole setup

We were unloading steel coils from a ship and the wind was gusting to 25 knots. The site foreman told me to "forget the tagline and use the load's inertia" to keep it steady on the swing. That advice saved me 10 minutes per lift and now I never touch a tagline in high wind. Has anyone else tried skipping the tagline on heavy loads in tight spots?

That "forget the tagline" advice works fine until the load starts spinning

Tagline saves you from a nasty spin-out (trust me, that inertia trick backfired on me once).
