Honestly, I was at the old train station in my town and saw something that gave me a story idea.

Ngl, I noticed a single, bright red door on a rusty old boxcar that was just sitting there. It made me think about who might have used it last and why it was painted that color. Has anyone else gotten a good prompt from a random detail like that?

Actually, that kind of thing just makes me zone out. A door is just a door, and staring at random stuff feels like a waste of time. You could look at anything and make up a story, so it's not special. It's more important to focus on writing the actual plot and characters instead of waiting for a magic sign. I've never gotten a single good idea from just looking at something old.

Ever wonder if your brain just works different, like maybe you're wired to see the story in things and other people aren't? What's the most boring, everyday object you've ever looked at and still couldn't find a single interesting thought about?
