I thought writing prompts had to be deep until a guy at a diner in Tulsa handed me one on a napkin
I used to skip anything that wasn't a big heavy idea about life and death. Then last Tuesday this older guy at a diner counter in Tulsa saw me scribbling and slid me a napkin that just read "write about the last thing you lost." I wrote 600 words about a $9 glove I dropped off a bridge in 8th grade and it was the most fun I'd had writing in a while. Now I grab dumb little prompts on purpose. What's the smallest prompt that got you going?
