My 14 day 'write from the villain's POV' challenge backfired hard
I thought forcing myself to write only from the villain's perspective for two straight weeks would unlock some deep empathy or whatever. By day 6 I started making excuses for him stealing the town's water supply, and by day 12 I actually caught myself rooting for the bad guy to win the final battle. I had to scrap the whole draft because the hero came off as the real monster. Lesson learned: balance your character exploration or you'll lose the moral core of your story. Has anyone else gone too deep into an 'evil' mindset and had to pull themselves back out?
