Showerthought: The worst writing week of my life was when my dog ate my notebook
It was a Monday in April, and the only copy of my outline for a fantasy novel was shredded. I had to rebuild three months of worldbuilding from memory, which felt impossible. Anyone ever have a physical disaster wreck their creative process?

Yeah I read this article once about famous writers who lost whole manuscripts (like Hemingway had a suitcase stolen with all his early work). Makes you feel a bit better, like it's a messed up rite of passage. Still a total nightmare in the moment though.

It's the same feeling when you lose a shopping list, just multiplied by a thousand.

Man that's brutal, but gotta say a dog eating it is almost the classic version of this problem. The real modern nightmare is when your hard drive dies and you didn't back anything up. At least with paper you had a single point of failure you could see, you know? Digital stuff just vanishes into the void and it feels way worse. Rebuilding from memory is a special kind of torture either way though.
