Honestly used to hate cryptic advice like that but he was right.

It's funny how the stuff that sounds like nonsense at first ends up being the most true later. People get so caught up in wanting clear, step-by-step instructions for everything, but life doesn't really work that way. Take relationships, for example. Nobody can give you a manual for how to handle every argument or misunderstanding, but the old advice about "pick your battles" always comes back around after you've been burned a few times. Same with money stuff. You hear "live below your means" a hundred times and roll your eyes, then you're thirty and realize that's the only thing that actually kept you out of debt. The cryptic stuff is usually just the simplified version of a hard lesson.
