Tracked my prompt file over 90 days and the before/after on my fill-in-the-blank habit surprised me
I keep a running doc of writing prompts and for the past 90 days I actually logged which ones I answered, which ones I skipped, and how long each took. The first month I was leaning hard on big open prompts like "write about a door" and I finished maybe 6 out of 30. Then in March I started rewriting every vague prompt as a fill-in-the-blank with a noun and a number in it, stuff like "a mechanic finds 3 quarters under a seat" instead of "write about money." My finish rate went from 6 out of 30 to 21 out of 30 the next month, same 20 minutes a day, same coffee shop on Lorain Ave. I think the blank just gives your brain a rail to grab onto, so you stop circling and start writing. Best part is the skipped ones are still sitting there and I can just add a blank to fix them instead of tossing them. Curious if anyone else rewrites prompts before using them, or do you answer them straight and see what breaks?
