Vent: That prompt method everyone raves about? It killed my momentum for weeks
I tried that "show don't tell" hack everyone on here posts about, where you strip all exposition and just use sensory details. After 3 straight days of writing that way, I realized my whole story was just a person staring at a coffee cup for 20 pages. Has anyone else found a specific prompt trick that actually backfired this bad?

That hack is overrated. Sensory overload kills the story.

Heard a writing podcast where the host said strict prompts just get in the way of your natural flow. Tried their advice to just write whatever comes to mind for ten minutes, and it actually broke my block better than any fancy method.

Started using a "write drunk, edit sober" tip I saw online and ended up rewriting an entire short story while I was half asleep on allergy meds. Made zero sense the next morning and somehow my characters developed a deep interest in home warranty plans.
