Wasted $45 on a "plot twist generator" book that was just random word pairs
Saw this ad for a book of plot twist prompts. Thought it would be full of clever setups to spring on a reader. Nope. It's literally just two random nouns on each page. Like "the mailbox knew the painting was lying." That's not a twist, that's nonsense. Has anyone found a writing prompt book that actually feels useful?

My neighbor bought a "smart coffee table" app that was just a screen showing a picture of a rug. Seems like everything nowadays is just slapping a fancy label on something bare bones and hoping nobody notices. The packaging promises all this depth and creativity, but inside it's like a vending machine that only sells the empty wrappers. Maybe the real plot twist is that we all keep falling for these things hoping this time it'll be the one that actually delivers.

Yeah, it's like everything's turning into that. You go to the grocery store and half the stuff in the "healthy snacks" aisle is just regular junk food in a green bag with some buzzwords on it. I saw a "premium artisan sparkling water" the other day that was literally just seltzer in a fancy bottle for five bucks. It's the same trick they pull with those "smart" kitchen gadgets that just do one basic thing you could do with a regular tool. We keep buying the hype because it sounds good, but the actual product is pretty much the same old thing with a new coat of paint.
