Wasted $80 on a writing course that taught nothing new

Did you look at the syllabus before buying? So many of these courses are just the same basic stuff you can find for free on youtube. They slap a fancy price tag on it and call it a masterclass. Ive wasted money on a few of these myself and it always stings. Honestly, most of the real learning happens by actually writing and getting feedback from people who know their stuff.

Check the refund policy first. @olivia398 is right, most of these courses just recycle free advice. I always look for courses that include actual critique on your work, that's where the real value is. If it's just video lectures and pdfs, you're basically paying for a book you can't return.
