Can we talk about how a collection can just... lose its soul?

I've been tracking my vintage postcard collection for a decade, and the vibe changed completely after I bought a $200 lightbox for photos. Everything looks perfect now, but it feels like a sterile catalog instead of my messy, loved hobby. Anyone else have a tool or change that accidentally sucked the joy out of their collecting process?

See it as a new chapter. My comic grading slabs felt cold at first, but now I just enjoy seeing them preserved.

Yeah, and wesley181 is right about the museum vibe. I bought this fancy glass display case for my vintage cameras, and now my shelf looks like a store that's too afraid to let anyone touch anything. I caught myself giving a little tour to my cat last week, pointing out the "excellent condition of the 1973 model." Next step is velvet ropes and an audio guide.
