Finally caught my mistake with vintage board games after 8 years
I was storing all my 1960s Monopoly sets flat on a basement shelf. That black mold on the bottom of one box finally tipped me off. Anyone else store things wrong for years without realizing it?

Oh man, the storage mistake hits close to home. I pretty much did the same thing with 70s Clue games for like five years until I noticed the cardboard warping. idk if it helps now but flipping them every season or at least keeping them off concrete is what I learned the hard way.

Flipping them every season is usually good advice, but I'm not sure that applies to something as old as 70s Clue games. Once cardboard starts to warp from humidity, flipping it won't really undo the damage. The real trick is getting them out of the basement or garage entirely if you can. A climate controlled closet or even a dry shelf in a spare room will do more than rotating them ever will. I ruined a 1960s Monopoly that way before I figured it out.

Didn't flipping the boxes just let the other side get warped too?
