Found a 1909 VDB penny in my dad's coin bin, then checked the price
I was sorting through my dad's old coffee can of loose pennies last weekend and spotted a 1909 with the VDB initials on the back. Looked it up online and apparently even a worn one can go for $15 to $50, and the mint mark versions are way higher. He had no clue it was sitting there for 40 years, just thought it was an old penny. Now I'm wondering if there are other hidden gems in his random change jars. Has anyone else found a valuable coin just by checking dates and initials closely?
