Found a dented can of old spray foam in my shed from 2019 and it actually sealed a gap better than the fresh stuff

Been fighting a draft around my basement window frame for months and tried three different caulks that all cracked, but that crusty old can of Great Stuff I almost tossed did the job in one shot and hasn't budged through two rainstorms.

Is the old stuff just better somehow or were we all unlucky with the new cans?

Sticking with one brand of cans for a few years helped me figure out what actually lasts. @diana_west27, what kind of stuff are you usually buying?

You make a fair point, but I actually think we're just getting lucky with older cans sometimes. That foam degrades over time and can get thicker in weird ways that work better for certain gaps. Pretty sure the fresh stuff is fine for most jobs and people just blame the can when it's really about prep work or temperature.
