I finally counted all my old soda bottles and hit a weird number
I was cleaning out the garage yesterday and decided to line up all the vintage soda bottles I've been picking up at yard sales for years. I always figured I had maybe 20 or 30 of them. When I finished counting, I had exactly 47. It's such a random, specific number that it made me laugh. I guess I've been grabbing them without really keeping track. Does anyone else have a collection that ended up at a weird, unexpected count?

Oh perfect, 47 is the exact number where a hobby becomes a cry for help. That's not a collection anymore, that's a soda bottle battalion. I bet they're all lined up judging you for not having a 48th.

Man, you just nailed something I see all the time. It's like there's this invisible line where having a few of something is cool, but having a lot turns you into a weirdo overnight. I see it with everything, not just bottles. My neighbor has like twelve bird feeders and people are starting to talk. Where was the exact moment it went from "oh, he likes birds" to "we need to stage an intervention"?

Totally get that! My thing was old video game cartridges. Thought I had a nice little stack of maybe fifteen. Did a full count last month and it was thirty-nine. Just a bizarre, almost aggressive number to have. They don't even all work, some are just for the weird box art. Now they sit there silently asking why I don't have a fortieth.
