I was storing my comic books all wrong for years
I always kept my collection, about 300 books, stacked flat in a cardboard box in my closet. Last month, I pulled out an old issue of Amazing Spider-Man from 1985 and the cover was stuck to the one below it, peeling some color off. A friend who runs a comic shop in Denver saw a picture and said, 'You're creating a moisture trap and crushing the spines.' He told me to bag them with acid-free boards and store them upright. Has anyone else had a storage disaster that made you change your whole system?

That's a real heartbreaker with that Spider-Man cover.

Remember when covers actually meant something? That one hurts because it's a classic pose, but they just had to go and change the colors. Feels like they're messing with history for no good reason.

Ugh, I totally get that feeling. I had a similar thing happen with a book series I love, where they redid all the covers to look more modern and it just felt wrong. It's like they forget some of us grew up with the original art as part of the story. @lunaf67 is right, it is a heartbreaker when they change something so iconic. My best move was just hunting down an old print version for my own shelf, even if the new one is what's in stores now.
