Just realized my 1987 Topps set looks way better in a $12 binder than the $60 display case I bought first
I got back into card collecting last month and grabbed a fancy glass display case for $60 at a shop in Boise, but the cards kept sliding down and I could only fit about 40 at a time. Swapped to a plain 3-ring binder with penny sleeves and now the whole 792 card set sits on my shelf for a fraction of the cost. The case is now holding loose change in my closet. Has anyone else gone cheap on storage and ended up happier than with the fancy stuff?

Learned that same lesson with my comic books years ago. Bought this whole glass shelf setup with lights and it looked amazing for about a week, then everything started warping from the heat and the dust still got in anyway. A plain cardboard box with bags and boards does the job better and I can actually flip through them without holding my breath. The fancy stuff is made to look good in a store, not to actually protect anything long term. Half the time the cheap option wins because you can move it around, add to it, and not stress when a kid bumps the shelf. That display case holding your loose change is honestly the perfect ending to this story.
