Showerthought: People keep calling my vintage bottle cap collection 'beer caps' and it drives me nuts
I've got about 500 caps from old soda brands, juice drinks, and even a few from a 1970s ginger beer company. Every single time someone sees the display, they say, 'Cool beer cap collection!' It matters because a lot of these caps, like the ones from NuGrape soda, have way more detailed art than most beer caps from the same time. How do you politely correct people without sounding like a total nerd about it?

Ugh that's so annoying lol, I totally get it. My cousin collects old mineral water bottles and everyone just calls them "old glass." The details on stuff like that are the whole point.

Man, I get that. I collect old fishing lures and everyone calls them "tackle." Drives me up a wall. What worked for me was just a quick, simple correction right when they say it. I'll say something like, "Thanks, but they're actually all soda caps. The art on these old ones is really something." It points out the difference without making a big deal out of it. Most people just nod and take a closer look.
