Vent: My buddy in Seattle said flea market records are always junk

He told me last summer that anything under $5 is probably warped or scratched. I just pulled a 1969 pressing of Neil Young from a $3 bin at a garage sale and it plays perfectly. Anybody else find gems in the cheap bins against someone's advice?

Wait, are people actually skipping over the good stuff and leaving it for us?

Huh, that's a really interesting take, but I see it a bit differently. In my experience, the people who know what they're doing usually snap up the good finds pretty fast, especially if they're priced right. I think what happens more often is just that we all have different tastes, so what seems like "good stuff" to one person might be totally skippable to another.

Ain't that the truth, I found a mint copy of Rumours in a dollar bin last month and it plays clean as hell.
