Warning: That $150 rock tumbler I bought was a total letdown

I spent $150 on a rock tumbler last month thinking I'd get shiny gems in a week. The motor burned out after 3 days of running, and the replacement parts cost almost as much as the machine. Anyone else have a similar experience with budget tumblers?

The noise thing is real and nobody warns you about it. Mine sounded like a washing machine full of rocks fighting a lawnmower. My neighbor actually came over to ask if everything was okay because it was that loud. Running it in the garage helped a bit but the whole house still shook. People really underestimate how loud these cheap motors can get. Did you end up keeping yours or did you send it back?

Was it really that bad though? Like I've heard some cheap ones are loud but a whole washing machine fight club situation sounds like you got a defective one or something. @alicehernandez probably thinks the same.

I'd bet the noise level is what nobody talks about with those things.
