Finally realized my password reuse was a ticking time bomb

I used the same password for everything for like 10 years. Thought it was fine since it had numbers and a symbol. Then last month my friend got his email hacked and the hacker used his saved passwords to get into his bank account. That woke me up real fast. Now I use a password manager and have different passwords for all 47 accounts I actually use. Has anyone else had a close call like that or am I the only one who was this careless?

Is it just me or does this whole "fix things after they break" approach apply to most of life beyond passwords?

@ivanross Totally agree, I was the same way with backing up photos until my phone died and I lost a year of pics. Now I automatically backup everything but it took a disaster to make me learn. Its wild how we all just wait for things to blow up before fixing them.
