Got my card skimmed at a Denver gas pump and now I do this one weird thing every time
Honestly I was filling up at a station off I-25 in Denver last month and my bank called me 20 minutes later about a $480 charge at a store two states away. Turns out someone had slapped a skimmer right over the card reader and it looked totally normal. Now I always grab the reader and wiggle it before I swipe, and if anything feels loose I walk inside and pay cash instead. Also started covering the keypad with my other hand when I type my PIN, since a tiny camera can be hidden above the screen. Has anyone else caught a skimmer in the wild, and did you report it to the station or just your bank?
