Old phone password manager locked me out after a system update
My Samsung from 2019 finally gave up and auto-updated last Tuesday, and then my password vault app kept crashing on launch. I lost access to 30+ saved logins because the app's local database got corrupted, and I had to reset half my accounts through email recovery. Has anyone else had an older app break after a forced update, or do you all keep your vault in the cloud these days?

Did you ever try pulling the app's backup folder off the phone before you reset everything? I read somewhere that some of these older vault apps keep a hidden backup file on the device storage, and even when the app crashes, that file is still there. It takes a bit of digging with a file manager, but some folks have recovered stuff that way. That said, I've moved my own passwords to a cloud based manager after a similar scare a couple years back. It feels a little odd trusting the cloud with that stuff, but honestly, losing everything hurt way more than any worry about a server breach. Your mileage may vary, but I'd at least check if that hidden backup trick works next time.
