PSA: Decided between LastPass and Bitwarden last month after a close call
I had a close call where someone tried to log into my old email account, so I finally had to pick a password manager. Went with Bitwarden because it's open source and cheaper at $10 a year versus their $36 plan. Has anyone else had to deal with account takeover attempts like that lately?

Man, that's rough about the account takeover attempt. I had something similar happen last year with my old Dropbox account, and it scared me straight too. I also went with Bitwarden after looking into it, and honestly I can't believe I waited so long. The open source thing was a big deal for me too, plus the price is just so much easier to swallow. Did you have any trouble getting all your passwords moved over?

Yeah 2FA on my Gmail was the thing that finally got to me too, @kaih36. I used to be one of those people who thought "eh it's fine, nothing bad will happen" until I saw someone trying to log in from Brazil while I was in my living room. Moving everything over to Bitwarden was actually pretty smooth for me, I just did it in chunks over a weekend. The csv export from my old manager had some weird formatting but I fixed it in like 10 minutes. Biggest pain was updating the weak passwords I'd been using for years, that took way longer than the actual transfer.

@janarivera the Brazil thing would have freaked me out too. I switched everything to Bitwarden last month after my old manager kept glitching out. The csv import was actually way easier than I expected, just had to fix a couple columns that got messed up. Changing all those old passwords took forever though, I had some that were literally just my dog's name from 2014. The open source thing matters to me too, I like that people can actually look at the code instead of just trusting some company.
