PSA: My kid's smart toy started talking on its own from a corner in our Phoenix living room.
I pulled the battery after hearing a strange voice, reset the device, and now I'm looking for a way to check if it was just a glitch or something more serious, so has anyone else had a connected toy act weird and what did you do?

My cousin's old Furby woke up and started laughing in a closet after being packed away for a decade. Honestly, it was just a dead battery glitch, but it scared us half to death.

My friend's Hello Barbie in Tempe did that last year. It was definitely a hack, not a glitch.

Oh wow, that's seriously creepy. I would have freaked out too. It's one thing when it's an old toy like @bettyroberts mentioned, but a connected toy doing that in your own house feels way more invasive. I've heard of similar stuff with those wifi enabled dolls getting hacked. Pulling the battery was smart. Maybe check the device's app for any weird login activity or voice logs, if it has that.
