Rant: paid $40 for a 3 year VPN deal on a sketchy site and it died in 2 months
Saw one of those lifetime VPN deals on a deal site back in March. $40 flat, no monthly. Felt smart for about 8 weeks. Then the app just stopped connecting and the support email bounced back. Found out the company behind it was a reseller and vanished, so my card info sat on their server for nothing. What do you all use to check if a VPN provider is actually legit before paying?
Blame the deal sites for pushing this junk, not the buyer, because they get paid to post and never test anything. Plenty of people grab these cheap deals knowing full well a fly-by-night shop might fold, and two months of service for $40 is still cheaper than a year of the big names. Expecting a $40 lifetime plan to stick around is like buying a $200 car and being shocked when it quits.
