TIL a simple trick that stopped my phone from getting weird spam texts

For months, I was getting 5-10 spam texts a week, mostly fake delivery alerts. I tried blocking numbers, but new ones kept popping up. Last week, I found a tip online about checking your phone's messaging settings for a 'filter unknown senders' option. I turned it on, and in the last 7 days, I've gotten zero spam texts in my main inbox. They all go to a separate folder I can check if I want. Has anyone else tried this, or found a better way to stop the spam flood?

Did you know some carriers let you forward spam texts to their own number for reporting? I tried that for a while before finding the filter. It felt good to fight back, but honestly, the filter is just easier. Now I only check that folder once a month to clear it out.

Wait, you were getting that many every week? That sounds like a total nightmare... I just turned that setting on too, so hopefully it works as well for me.
