TIL my 'strong' Facebook password was cracked in under 2 minutes by a buddy who knows Python

Last month at a cafe in Portland I let a friend take a peek at my password manager. He laughed and said he could break my old Facebook password in seconds using a simple script. He ran it on his laptop right there and got into a dummy account I set up with the same password in under 2 minutes. Made me realize how easy it is for anyone with basic coding skills to crack weak passwords. Has anyone else tested their own passwords like this and been shocked at how fast they fall?

Used a free website called "Have I Been Pwned" after hearing about it on a tech podcast. Typed in my old passwords from like 10 years ago and was blown away by how many had been leaked in data breaches. My password was "ilovepizza123" and it showed up in like 4 different hacks. Made me realize I was basically handing the keys to my accounts to anyone who knew how to search a database. Now I use a passphrase with random words mixed with numbers and special characters, longer is way better than complex in my experience.

Saw a similar post on Reddit and it honestly freaked me out how common old passwords are in leaks.

No way, "ilovepizza123" was in FOUR breaches? @the_viola that's wild.
