Warning: Our town library's public computers are a data theft waiting to happen

I was there yesterday and watched someone log into their email on a shared terminal. That's just asking for trouble! Libraries should require password managers or something. Never, ever use public computers for personal logins. This risky behavior has to stop.

Sure, there's risk, but where else can people without internet at home go?

Lol watching someone type their password on a library PC is peak recklessness. Those machines are probably crawling with malware from the last person who downloaded shady stuff. Imagine checking your bank account right after some kid looked up cheat codes. Public terminals are for quick info lookups, not personal stuff. We need common sense, but I guess that's too much to ask. Your inbox is gonna be full of spam if you keep that up.

Libraries actually update their computers pretty often to keep them safe. Sure, there's a chance of malware, but staff usually run scans and block shady sites. For lots of people, these are the only way to check email or pay bills online. You just have to be smart about it, like clearing history and not saving passwords. It's not about lacking common sense, it's about making do with what you have. Public access is important, even if it comes with some risk.
