Caught a guy using the shoulder to pass a mile of cars this morning

He sped past everyone stuck in traffic, then cut in at the last second! It almost caused a pile-up when he braked hard. When did we decide that being in a hurry excuses dangerous driving?

Seriously, what is the actual consequence for that? Like, does anyone ever get pulled over for it? I see it all the time and it feels like there's zero enforcement. They risk causing a huge wreck just to save what, maybe two minutes? It's pure entitlement. When's the last time you saw a cop actually stop someone for that move?

Got pulled over for that exact move last year on I-5. Cops do write tickets, but they have to see the whole unsafe lane change from start to finish. The bigger issue is how many near-wrecks happen without any officer around to see it.

Totally get the frustration! I started using my dash cam after a close call like that. It records everything so I can at least report the really bad ones with video proof. It doesn't fix the problem, but it makes me feel a little less helpless when I see it happen. The video evidence is clear and shows the whole dangerous move from start to finish.
