Guy on the train told me to sit in the last car instead of my usual spot

He was right. Last car on the 7:15 express is always half empty and nobody coughs on you. Has anyone else found a weird hack like that for their route?

Does sitting in the back half of the bus work the same way for you?

Yeah "works the same way" is an interesting way to put it. I feel like sitting in the back is part of a bigger thing where people pick spots that match how they want to be seen. Like if you sit up front you're signaling you're ready and involved. Back of the bus feels more like you're saying "I'm here but I'm not really here" if that makes sense. It's the same vibe as picking the corner table at a coffee shop or the last row in a meeting room. People just naturally find those spots where they can watch everything without being watched back. It's not even about the seats themselves it's about setting a little invisible boundary around yourself.
