Heard a guy on the bus say commuting is just wasted time
I was on the 7:15 express into the city yesterday and this guy in a suit was talking loud on his phone. He said his 45 minute commute was 'dead time' he could never get back. It got me thinking, because I actually like my drive. It's the only quiet part of my day before the shop opens. I see the same heron by the river bend most mornings. I don't think that's wasted. Does anyone else find their commute is a useful buffer between home and work?

Wait, he was talking loud on his phone about wasted time? That's the real crime here. My commute is the only time nobody can ask me for anything.

Yeah that "only time nobody can ask me for anything" hit hard. I used to make calls on my drive, but now I get it. That quiet is too good to waste.

No way, he was complaining about wasted time WHILE wasting everyone else's quiet time? That's next level. My whole mood would be ruined if some guy started yelling about his calendar right next to me. The whole point is that it's the one part of the day you don't have to perform for anyone. He clearly doesn't get it.
