Just realized my bus pass was stuck to a piece of gum this whole time
This morning, the scanner on the bus kept beeping red when I tried to tap on. I spent a full ten minutes digging through my bag, checking my account online, and even asking the driver. Turns out, my monthly pass was stuck to a wad of old gum in my pocket... the plastic sleeve was totally gummed up. I had to peel it off and wipe it down with a napkin. Has anyone else had their commute delayed by something this dumb?

Oh the plastic sleeve being gummed up... that's the worst. I keep my pass in one of those cheap plastic card holders from the dollar store now, the kind you can wipe clean. A little rubbing alcohol on a paper towel gets any sticky stuff right off.

Ugh, remember when those old bus pass sleeves would just melt into a sticky mess in your bag? I had one fuse itself to a library card once, took me twenty minutes to peel them apart. The whole thing felt like it was coated in old soda. Your alcohol trick is smart, I just used to scrape the gunk off with my fingernail like a caveman.

Tried that once and the alcohol made the plastic all cloudy. Switched to a silicone sleeve instead, it never gets sticky. Honestly just wiping the card itself on my jeans most days works fine too.
