My coworker thinks GPS routes are always better than local knowledge
I got into a debate with a guy at my job in Denver last week. He said he always takes whatever Google Maps says even if it looks weird. I told him I found a shortcut through a side street that saves me 7 minutes every morning. He said that's not real because the app knows traffic better than I do. What do you all think, do you trust your own shortcuts or just follow the GPS?

Oh absolutely, "the app knows traffic better" - that's what people say until the app sends them down a dead end street that's been closed for weeks. My back way to the grocery store saves me at least five minutes and Google still tries to route me through the same traffic light that takes forever.

Oh absolutely, 'the app knows traffic better'" - same here lol. I started using my shortcut to avoid that one light by the mall and it saves me like 7 minutes easy. What worked for me was just mapping it out on Waze once and then memorizing the turns, now I just ignore the app completely if it tries to reroute me. Even tried Google Maps a few times and it kept sending me straight into that backup, so I deleted it and stuck with my own route.

Ngl I just pick a route and stick with it, GPS or not. The key is to check traffic before you leave, not have it recalculating every 2 minutes while you're driving.
