Shoutout to the guy on the 7:15 express who thinks traffic is a choice

He was on his phone, loud, telling someone they just need to 'leave earlier' and 'plan better' like it's that simple. This was on the I-5 south, where a wreck near Tacoma had us crawling for 45 minutes. My takeaway is that some folks really don't get that for a lot of us, there is no 'better route' or 'flex time'. Has anyone else had a commute where the usual advice just doesn't apply at all?

That "plan better" line gets me. It's the same energy as people who say you can fix any car problem by just changing the oil. Some situations, like that wreck on I-5, are just broken and you have to wait it out. There's no magic trick for a closed freeway.

Yeah, and like drew_reed62 said, it's just broken. What's your earliest possible leave time, and does it even matter on those days?

Wait, did you just say earliest possible leave time? Like that even helps when the whole freeway is a parking lot? Drew_reed62 is totally right, it's just broken. You could leave at 3 AM and still be stuck behind the same mess because a semi tipped over. Planning doesn't fix a concrete barrier in your lane.
