The 45 bus route taught me I was sitting in the wrong seat for 6 months
I always sat in the back row on the 45 bus because I thought it was quieter, but last week I had a flat tire and had to sit up front for the first time. Turned out the back row bounces way more over bumps and the heat never works back there, so my whole commute was actually rougher and colder than it needed to be. Has anyone else realized they were picking a bad spot on their bus or train for ages without knowing it?

Wait, so you sat in the freezing bumpy seat for half a year without ever trying the front?

You know, that "never tried the front" thing reminds me of how folks get stuck in routines without even realizing it. Like, I have a neighbor who's been parking in the same cramped spot for years because he parked there once and just never thought to check if there's a better one. It's weird how we get comfortable with what's uncomfortable just because we're used to it. Once you actually try the front seat, you kick yourself for all that time you spent shivering in the back.

Half a year? Man, I once dated a guy for eight months before I realized his apartment had a working dishwasher. I'd been washing dishes by hand the whole time because I thought his sink setup was just janky. Turns out it was behind a stack of pizza boxes he never moved. I felt like such a dope hauling plates over to his tiny counter when all I had to do was peek behind the cardboard mountain. Your bus seat story is way more relatable than it should be. I bet you also have a gym membership you never use and still pay for too, right?
