Took the backroads instead of the highway for a month. Huge difference.
I got sick of the 6 lane gridlock every morning. Switched to a county route near Clarksville. Adds 12 minutes but zero brake tapping. No semis, no merging chaos. Anyone else ditch the main drag for something quieter?

12 minutes extra per day is 4 hours a month of wasted time.

Nah man I gotta push back on this one. @casey682 those 4 hours aren't wasted if you're not losing your mind in traffic every day. I used to come home from my commute so cranked up I couldn't even talk to my family for an hour. Now I take a scenic two-laner that adds 15 minutes but I actually enjoy the drive, listen to podcasts, and don't want to punch my steering wheel by the time I park. Plus I've saved way more than 4 hours a month by not sitting in standstill traffic that stresses me out and makes me take dumb risks. It's not always about the clock, sometimes it's about keeping your sanity.
