Tried driving vs taking the bus for a month straight
I live in Portland and work about 8 miles from home. For June I drove every day, cost me around $180 in gas plus parking. For July I took the bus, $100 for a monthly pass. The bus took 15 minutes longer each way but I got to read books and didn't arrive angry at traffic. Has anyone else noticed how much calmer their commute gets when they aren't behind the wheel?

That $80 difference is just the start. You also save on wear and tear, oil changes, and that headache of finding parking downtown.
