Wait, is it a real shortcut or just a nicer path? Sounds like same distance but way less traffic to deal with.

Well, I used to think the same, but trying it changed my view. I mean, it's actually a bit shorter, not just less traffic.

Less traffic makes it a shortcut even if the miles are the same.

My GPS says my usual route is 4.2 miles and this new path is 4.1 miles by car. Biking it has to be even closer since you can cut through the park. Ten minutes seems like a lot for maybe two tenths of a mile difference. Unless you were getting stuck at the same traffic light every day for a few minutes.
