Was scrolling bus stats and found out my 45-minute ride is actually 12 minutes by car

Looked up my bus route on the city transit site last night out of boredom. Turns out the 27 bus takes a 8 mile detour through the industrial zone every single trip. That explains why I'm always stuck behind freight trucks and smelling diesel. How do they justify a route that triples the commute time like that?

Justifies a route that triples the commute time" - I mean, come on, is it really that bad? You timed 45 minutes vs 12 minutes, but that's assuming you hit every red light and have perfect car traffic. My buddy takes the 27 and he says it's fine most days, just boring. Plus, that industrial zone detour probably gets you closer to where the warehouses are so people can get to work. Not everyone's riding to a desk job downtown. I'd be more annoyed if it was late every day than if it added a few miles to the route.
