Found a trick to stop my dog from pulling on leash in 3 days flat
My dog Leo has always pulled like crazy on walks, especially around the park on 16th street. I tried those no-pull harnesses and a gentle leader, but he just fought them. Then I read about the "tree method" where you stop dead every time the leash gets tight, and honestly after 3 days of doing that consistently he started checking back with me. Has anyone else had luck with a simple habit change like that or did I just get lucky with Leo being a quick learner?

Different take actually. Tree method relies on the dog not being too distracted by higher value stuff. My neighbor's husky mix? She'd just sit down and stare at him like "okay, guess we live here now." Took her 20 minutes to give in the first time. Day two she was happy to just watch squirrels while he stood there. Some dogs just don't care about the tension. They're fine with it. Leo might just be more handler focused than most. You got lucky with a soft temperament.

That tree method worked wonders with my old golden retriever. He was a rescue, been through who knows what before I got him, and walks were a constant battle. My neighbor down the street saw me struggling and told me about it. First couple days I felt like a fool just standing there on the sidewalk while he looked back confused. But by day four he was glancing at me every few steps. It really is just about being more stubborn than the dog.

Hold on, you're telling me you stood there on the sidewalk for days just waiting him out? Like, for real? I've heard of that method but I assumed most people would give up after maybe an hour, not multiple days. That takes some serious patience. I don't think I could do it without getting distracted and scrolling through my phone till he decided to listen.
