Had to choose between the muddy trail or the paved path today, picked the mud and spent 20 minutes washing my dog's paws afterward.

My dog loved every second of it but now my hallway looks like a crime scene, has anyone else found a quick way to clean muddy paws without making a mess?

Did you ever try those silicone paw scrubber cups you can get for like 10 bucks? I read about them on a dog training blog and they're basically just a cup with soft rubber nubs inside that you fill with water and your dog steps into. I got one after my last mud disaster and it actually works pretty well... you just have to get your dog used to putting their paw in it first, which took me a few tries. Still have to towel dry them after but it keeps most of the mud from ending up on your floors or in your sink.

Love that @ivanross mentioned those silicone cups, I got one for my golden retriever last fall and it was a total game changer. You're so right about the training part though (my dog thought it was a toy at first and kept trying to pull it away). I actually put a little peanut butter on the outside to lure her paw in, which worked way faster than just coaxing her. The nubs really do get between their toes though, thats where all the mud hides, you know? Still have to wipe the floor afterwards but its way less of a mess than the old days of chasing her around with a towel.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean about the peanut butter trick. I did something similar with my old lab mix, just smeared a bit of cream cheese on the rim of the cup. She was so focused on licking it off that she didn't even notice her paw sliding in. The nubs really are key though, I found that out the hard way when I tried using a regular cup first and just ended up with muddy water everywhere. One thing I learned is to put a towel down on the floor where they step out, that way they can shake off a little before they run through the house.
