Hit 1,000 miles on my daily walks with the dog last Tuesday

I didn't even notice until I pulled up my tracking app out of boredom. I started logging walks back in March when my vet said rescue needed to lose 12 pounds. We just walk the same 2 mile loop around the park near my apartment in Cleveland. But day after day it added up. It was kind of crazy seeing that number pop up on the screen. Has anyone else accidentally hit a big milestone like this without trying?

March 29th is when I started tracking and my phone says 847 miles as of yesterday. Honestly I don't really get the big deal about hitting some round number like 1,000. The dog doesn't care about the mileage, she just wants to sniff the same fire hydrant every single day. Seems like people put too much stock in these arbitrary milestones when the real win is just getting outside...

Oh come on, you gotta admit there's something satisfying about seeing that odometer click over to a nice round number. I mean yeah, the dog doesn't care about miles, she's living in the moment (which honestly is kinda the point, right?). But us humans like patterns and round numbers and little milestones to mark our progress. It's not about the number itself, it's about the fact that you've been consistent enough to hit it. 847 is impressive too though, don't get me wrong - that's a lot of fire hydrant sniffs.

So are you saying you'd skip the celebration and just keep walking?
