Noticed something on my walk near the old railroad bridge today
I take my beagle past the old trestle bridge by the river every morning, and today I finally saw how the morning light hits the rust patterns on the steel beams just right. Made me wonder if anyone else has a spot on their regular route that looks completely different depending on the weather.

Caught myself staring at the same trestle bridge by the creek last week after a rainstorm. Read somewhere that the angle of sunlight brings out different layers of rust and old paint, like it changes the whole texture of the metal. On foggy mornings it looks almost soft and worn down, but in full sun it looks sharp and industrial. The wood planks on the floor change color too, going from dark brown to almost silvery gray depending on how much moisture is in the air. Kinda cool how your eyes can pick up a completely different bridge every time you pass it.

I read this cool article about how train bridges rust differently depending on which way the wind blows, kinda matches what you saw.

That bit about the wind direction makes me think of my buddy Dave who works on bridges. He told me about one old bridge where the east side was all flaky red rust and the west side was this weird blackish crust from the factory smoke blowing that way for thirty years.
