Spent $80 on those silicone paw protectors and they were useless after one walk

My dog has sensitive paws and I saw these booties online that claimed to be waterproof and grip well. I ordered them from Amazon for like $80 and took them out on a trail near my house. By the time we got half a mile in, one had slipped off and the other was full of mud and rocks. I just wasted my money and ended up carrying my dog partway back. Anyone find a brand that actually stays on through a whole walk?

Eighty bucks is wild for what's basically neoprene with velcro straps, but I gotta ask - is this really that big of a deal? Dogs have been walking on bare paws for thousands of years (crazy concept, I know). A little mud or a few rocks isn't going to hurt them unless the trail is literally covered in glass or lava. My mutt has done whole hikes on sharp gravel without even flinching. Maybe just stick to softer trails or carry some wipes for cleaning up after.

Man, I know someone who bought those same ones and her dog was missing two of them before they even got to the trailhead. Total garbage for the price.
