Stuck between two trail options for my dog walk this morning
I had to choose between a shaded path by the creek or a sunny open field for our walk today. My lab mix loves to splash in the water, but I was worried about her getting too muddy before work. Ended up picking the creek trail since it was already 80 degrees at 7am and she needs the cool-down. She slipped on a wet rock twice and I got soaked trying to catch her, but at least she slept through my morning meeting after. Has anyone else had to pick the messy route just to keep their dog from overheating?

Took my husky on the shady trail last week. Same thing happened. She bolted after a squirrel and I faceplanted in the mud. Still worth it though. Kept her cool the whole walk.

You mentioned she kept her cool the whole walk, but did she even look back after you ate it? My dog does the same thing - takes off after something and acts like I don't exist until the fun is over. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like huskies have zero guilt built in. Did you at least get a laugh out of it or were you too busy checking for bruises? I mean, I've faceplanted plenty of times and the mud stains are a pain to get out of good pants. Just wondering if she seemed concerned at all when you finally caught up.
