Switched from morning walks to evening walks after my dog got stung by a bee

Used to drag my golden retriever out at 6 AM rain or shine, but after she got stung in the face last month by a ground bee near the mailbox, we shifted to dusk walks. Now we hit the trail behind the old water tower around 7 PM, way less bugs and she actually trots instead of flopping down. Anyone else switch times after a bad encounter?

I heard bees are way less aggressive after sunset. Might be worth trying an hour later.

My neighbor's lab got stung twice by yellow jackets on morning walks and now she refuses to go out before 10 AM. I mean, bugs are way less active at dawn than people think, maybe it was just bad luck with that ground bee.

Was this near a creek or something damp like that? Yellow jackets can be weirdly territorial in certain spots, especially if there’s a nest underground nearby they don’t want you near. Makes me wonder if the morning dew or something else drew them out right then. Has she tried walking a completely different route even if it’s just a block over? Sometimes just moving twenty feet away from their hidden nest solves the whole problem without fighting over walk times.
